  • Added Who’s Online functionality to the iOS version of the EP Teacher Mobile App (Android was released with this functionality).
  • Creating a new class is now streamlined, with additional fields for year/grade level and subject being added. This means:
    • Licences are now automatically selected for new classes.
    • Educators attached to classes with missing subject or year/grade level information will be prompted to fill this out when they log in.
    • Options for Professional, Tutoring, and Tertiary have been added if year/grade level are not applicable.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue on the Student App where the student access code email was not opening the set password page properly.

February

New features/functions and improvements

  • EP for School:
    • Missing Class Details and Edit Class Subject modals have been tweaked to be clearer as to which Subjects each Year/Grade level are or are not licenced for.
    • Educators can now edit class names controlled by Wonde and class names will not be overwritten in subsequent syncs.
    • Stickers (also known as Cheers) in Educator/Teacher accounts will now refresh at the start of each academic year.
      • The time of refresh is determined by the hemisphere the teacher’s associated school is located in (January for Southern Hemisphere, August for Northern Hemisphere).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Classes tab where:
    • Clicking the Select All button within a class didn’t select all of the accounts as expected.
    • Adding/removing a subject in class details didn’t update the class name accordingly.
    • Adding a new teacher/educator account from the set teachers for this class modal will no longer cause all teachers to be listed twice.
  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where CSV exports of class results will no longer appear blank when multiple classes are included.
  • Users who log in via Google social login will no longer be prompted to log in again when a new dashboard tab is opened.
  • Fixed a scrolling bug on touch/mobile devices that blocked learners from viewing the Submit review button and student answers in Peer Review has been resolved.

March

New features/functions and improvements

  • The EP upload function now fully supports the addition, update and removal of parent/guardian emails attached to learner accounts.
  • Wonde syncs have been updated to:
    • Occur automatically every 24 hours around 5am NZDT. This feature can be disabled upon request.
    • Check that emails match a school’s set email requirements for both learner and educator accounts.
  • The Enrolment Portal has been updated:
    • The list of student enrolment requirements now includes Class Year Level and Subject as independent required fields. Tooltips explaining how they need to be formatted in their provided file have also been added.
    • The downloadable student list template now includes Class Year Level and Subject columns.
  • Search results in the Content Library can now be opened in a new tab by using:
    • Windows: [Ctrl + click] or [ctrl + enter].
    • Mac: [Cmd + click] or [cmd + enter].

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Student Zone that caused Official EP Content folders to take a long time to load during a competition.
  • Fixed a bug in the Enrolment Portal where explanations for ineligible files were not displayed. Users can click the ❌ next to the uploaded file to see exactly what is missing.
  • Fixed a bug in the Content Library where users would receive an error message when making a copy of a Pre-Built Exam if that exam contained content that had since been moved elsewhere (but was still available within the Content Library).
  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where deleting assigned Remedial Tasks would prevent the ability to manually re-assign new/different Remedial Tasks for that Assessment.
  • Fixed a bug in Tasks that was causing Task Progress data discrepancies when user created Lists were used within the Task.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented grades from syncing from Education Perfect to Canvas. Grades will now be populated back into Canvas once the results are available within EP.

April

New features/functions and improvements

  • The Assign function in the Content Library has been streamlined to a single button, and content sharing links are now easily accessible.
  • The Tasks, Assessments and Competitions tabs have been refreshed to be more concise when there are no active assignments.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several bugs in Tasks where:
    • Learner progress was incorrectly displayed when the assigned content had been edited in the Content Library.
    • Learner progress was showing incorrectly on the task overview page.
    • Time taken for learner progress was showing discrepancies between the class overview and the whole lesson and lesson sections.
  • Fixed a bug in the Student Zone that caused learners to earn points on student made content.
  • Fixed a bug in Classes where class names were showing null for year level, despite a year level being already set.

May

New features/functions and improvements

  • The ‘?’ button in the Teacher Dashboard has had the Contact Support and View Help Centre buttons consolidated in to one button: Get Support. Educators can access the EP Help Centre and contact our Support Team from the same button.
  • Subject/Year level pairs shown in Class Details now only show 4 at a time, with ‘...’, which can be clicked to display hidden entries. This reduces the need for scrolling when viewing multi-subject classes.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where assigning Fact Lists as a Quick Test would not allow learners to sit the test if specific Lists were assigned with each other, especially those with times tables included.
  • Fixed several bugs in the Content Library where:
    • The new Quick Assign flow had some minor visual discrepancies.
    • The Quick Assign flow allowed educators to select the Assess option with Smart Lessons that didn’t include at least one Quiz, Extended Response or Skill Mastery section.
  • Fixed a bug in the Student Zone where a learner could not progress through an Information Slide by navigating through the side panel as opposed to when clicking the green Continue button. Learners can now use the side panel to continue to the next question and gain progress, after the 3-second timer.

June

New features/functions and improvements

  • In the Student Zone, students are no longer able to submit freetext feedback on Smart Lesson type content.
    • Teacher functionality is unchanged, and they can still submit feedback.
    • Students should notify their teachers of any feedback or errors.
  • In Tasks and Assessments:
    • The assign flows have been adjusted to better align in-platform language with the language used by educators.
    • The assign flows have also been refreshed to reduce complexity and simplify steps involved:
      • Tasks:
        • Email notifications are now toggled off by default.
        • Dash settings have been integrated with the wider flow, and Dash is now available once a lesson has been completed.
      • Assessments:
        • Create your own has been removed as an option from the Assessment type modal (teachers can create and assign Exam-type content from the Content Library as normal).
        • Quick Tests have been renamed to Quizzes.
        • Marking is now completed either automatically by the platform, or by the educator.
        • Full Screen Monitored Mode is now toggled on by default.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed two visual errors in the Classes tab, where:
    • The student added to class confirmation modal had a wonky check mark.
    • If the learner’s username was too long it would spill over instead of being contained.
  • Fixed a bug in the Student App on iPad browsers where if a slide contained more than one Working Formula component, attempting to answer the second one caused the keyboard and the in-app back button to stop working.

Further developments are currently on a temporary hiatus while we complete some system upgrades.

There are plenty of updates coming - stay tuned!

September

As noted in earlier months we took a temporary hiatus from new developments to complete some system upgrades - this is now complete. Thank you for your patience!

Important note for those who use iPads on iOS 12: Due to these essential changes, as well as Apple phasing out support for iOS 12, the EP Student App is no longer available iPads operating iOS 12. If this affects you, please see this article on how to continue accessing EP on these devices.

New features/functions and improvements

  • In the Content Library:
    • In Browse mode a new quick link to open Content Search has been added for every subject - this will appear when no folders have been selected.
    • When using Content Search, EP created content will now be prioritised over content made by our Teacher Community. You can still find Teacher Community made content by changing the Author filter to include this content in your results.
    • It is no longer possible for learners to search for Teacher Community made content. Learners can only access custom content that has been created and shared with them by an educator within the same school account.
  • In Tasks, the Cheers/Stickers design has been given an upgrade ahead of an upcoming refresh of the Tasks feature.
  • In Assessments, the export PDF dialogue design has been given an upgrade ahead of an upcoming refresh of the Assessments feature.
  • In Insights:
    • The column for Last Login has been changed to Last Activity.
    • Task Completion exports for individual learners will now include an Accuracy column, and the column for Students Assigned has been removed.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Content Library where an (unclickable) option to assign appeared in the right-click dropdown menu on top level folders. This functionality is only intended for individual items and sub-folders that contain content of the same type.
  • Fixed a minor typo in Tasks within the Learning Method selection dialogue.
  • Fixed two bugs in Assessments where:
    • Some learners' attempts weren't registering as fully marked until the teacher clicked and opened the attempt.
    • When exporting PDFs for a set Assessment, if the content used included a lot of embedded components (videos, PDFs etc.) the exported PDF would just be a screenshot of the login page due to the request timing out. Going forward, placeholder text is used instead of trying to generate previews for the embedded items.
  • Fixed several bugs in Insights where:
    • Educators were unable to select multiple classes within the Task Completion Report.
    • Under the Class Report, the column for accuracy in exports for Tasks would be empty, all usage data was grouped under one class, and tasks were shown as being started before learners had made any attempts.
  • Fixed several bugs in the Global Scoreboard and Competitions where:
    • The participant count for a Competition was displaying a much higher number than it should when learners were in more than one class that was participating.
    • The Global Scoreboard wasn't able to be accessed on some devices.
    • Filtering to Monthly Score on the scoreboard as someone in the Northern Hemisphere would display results for the Southern Hemisphere.
    • discard changes dialogue would appear when creating a Competition too quickly, causing a duplicate to be created.
  • Fixed two bugs in the Student Zone where:
    • On occasion, if an incorrect answer was given in a List, regardless of the subject area or List type, momentarily the correct answer would be displayed as Blue/Blau.
    • Pressing tab and then enter while completing a Translation List would trigger a false suspicious activity alert.

October

New features/functions and improvements

  • For EP for Home customers:
    • You can now purchase, change subscription plans, manage cards and cancel subscriptions completely in-app through our Subscription Management Portal
  • In Classes, several foundational updates have been made in preparation for upcoming upgrades to our self-service enrolment features:
    • The buttons for + Create Class and Upload Classes have been merged into one + Add Classes button. Clicking this button will prompt users to choose to manually add a class themselves, or use the Self-Service Enrolment Portal to automatically enrol classes.
    • In the Class Details page:
      • Class Join Codes have been given more prominence on the page. Clicking the stacked dots will allow users to refresh the code, or add one if the class doesn’t already have a code.
      • Class editing and archiving functions have been moved to a new Settings page. The following options can now be found here:
        • Edit the teacher(s) assigned to class.
        • Edit the class name.
        • Edit the year/grade and subject assigned to class.
        • Edit the academic year.
        • View associated licences.
        • Archive the class.
    • The Quick links panel has been removed. Clicking the relevant feature area (e.g. Tasks) from the navigation bar at the top of the page will allow you to access the same information.
  • In the Student Zone:
    • A new button has been added for learners to Join class via a Class Join Code right from their Student Dashboard.
    • For schools using in-app payments, there is now a persistent payment prompt button to provide easier access to the subscription checkout menu.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Fixed an issue in Competitions where learners were able to search and access content that was not included in the Competition that the learner was participating in. This previously caused some confusion where learners weren’t earning as many points as expected.
    • Fixed an issue in the Content Picker and assignment flow where previewing a lesson at any point would break the +Add More Content button and additional content couldn’t be added.
    • Fixed an issue in EP Studio when using inline images (e.g. images within text blocks). Previously saving these slides would delete the component.

November

New features/functions and improvements

      • The Export button has been moved. It will now appear in the popup drawer when all students have been selected.
      • Class names have been restyled to be more prominent on-screen.
  • In the Content Library:
    • In Edit mode, options for creating new content and folders have been moved to a sleek new drop-down menu instead of being visible as a toolbar.
    • In Browse and Edit mode, the search bar placeholder text has been updated to specify the subject currently being viewed. For example, if currently browsing French content, the placeholder text will say Search in French.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue for schools using Wonde where teachers were unable to edit the name of classes from the Class Settings page.

December

New features/functions and Improvements

  • In Classes:
    • The Enrolment Portal has been refreshed, improving the class enrolment process and making requirements clearer and more concise. This update enables full class enrolments that are both instant and secure. See here for more information.
    • Class Invite Links have been added to the existing Class Join Code functionality. Class Links provide quicker and easier access to classes, with different student account states (active, inactive, not yet created) accounted for. See here for more information.
    • The Class Join Code tile was adjusted to better accommodate smaller screens.
  • In Tasks:
    • In the Report tab:
      • A column for Average Accuracy has been added to the Lesson Report table. Note: This table is only displayed for Tasks with more than one piece of content assigned.
      • Visual indicators have been added to the Student Progress table that show where learners may have struggled.
  • In Assessments:
    • When assigning an Assessment, text has been added noting that it is still possible to assign recommendations manually if the automatic option has been turned off.
    • In the Report tab:
      • If the marking criteria has been set as letter grading, the box displaying the average mark will no longer be visible. This was previously displayed as 0%, as this is calculated as a percentage.
      • If the marking criteria has been set as letter grading, the Compare Assessment button is now unavailable, and a hover tooltip is displayed explaining why. The Compare Assessment option is unrelated to letter grading, so has been switched off.
  • In both Tasks & Assessments:
    • In the Report tab, if work is assigned to multiple classes the ability to view specific classes (and the clear split between My classes/Other classes) has been returned.
    • In the Monitor tab, vertical spacing between lines has been decreased so that more information can be displayed at once.
    • In all pages within a specific Task or Assessment, titles now disappear when scrolling instead of collapsing. This allows more information to be shown on screen.
  • In the Student Zone:
    • The Estimated time to complete for assigned tasks has been removed. No changes have been made to the teacher view.
    • The thumbs up/thumbs down feedback option on question slides has been removed.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed two issues in Tasks where:
    • On iPads or smaller screens, users were unable to horizontally scroll the Lessons Report table.
    • Reopening a closed task was not working as expected.
  • Fixed several issues in Assessments where:
    • When comparing assessments, inconsistencies in percentages between the top level view and the individual student view have been corrected.
    • The copy button for the LMS embed link was copying an incorrect link.
    • The navigation arrows were not showing on the date-time pickers in the Assign Recommendations dialog.
    • The Assign Recommendations dialog was not filtering to the specific learner when viewing an individual’s report.
