Finding content on EP

Search all EP and custom content from anywhere in EP, or browse in Discover and Library and add topics to your Course Planner.

Finding the right resources for your students is an important part of using EP. This article covers the key places to look and tips for finding the right lessons.

Search from anywhere in EP

Search now works the same way everywhere in EP. A search bar sits in the header of every page, including your Home page, and searches all of your content at once. You don’t need to check Discover, Library, and your school’s content separately.

Search results include:

  • EP content

  • Your own custom content

  • Your school’s custom content

  • Teacher community content

Here’s how:

  1. Click the Search for learning activities and assessments bar at the top of any page.

Search for learning activities and assessments bar.

  2. Type your keyword. Your results appear in a window, with tags such as subject and year level shown next to each result.

Search results for content filtered by keyword, level, owner, curriculum, and subject.

  3. To narrow your results, filter by Levels, Owner, or Curriculum, or select Show filters to display Activity types and Subjects filters.

The Library page has its own search bar, so you won’t see the header search bar there. See Searching in Library below.

Discover

Use Discover to find and assign EP content. Select your subject and level, then browse the available topics.

  • To find something specific, use the search bar at the top of the page.

  • Open a topic to see a list of lessons sequenced to progress students through units of work and achieve specific learning outcomes. From here, you can preview and assign lessons to your students.

  • Curriculum tags (and curriculum outcomes, if available) are also displayed within topics to help you identify relevant work.

Discover shows EP content filtered by curriculum. Search for learning activities and assessments bar is displayed at the top of the page.

Adding topics to Course Planner

You can add content from Discover to your Course Planner in two ways:

Add a full topic

Click Add topic to a course on any topic to add it to your Course Planner in its entirety. This is the quickest way to build out a unit of work.

Shows 'Add topic to a course' option within a topic in Discover.

Add specific activities

If you only want certain lessons or activities from a topic, use the checkboxes to select individual items, then click Assign activities. This creates a partial topic in your Course Planner, giving you full control over exactly what students will work through.

Related Topics in Discover

When you’re previewing a topic in Discover, you may see a Related section at the bottom of the page.

This section highlights similar or connected topics that you may find useful when planning lessons or assignments.

How to use Related Topics

  1. Scroll to the bottom of a topic page in Discover.

  2. View the Related section.

  3. Click any suggested topic to explore further content.

Related topics are displayed at the bottom of the topic page in Discover.

These recommendations help you:

  • Quickly find additional or supporting lessons

  • Extend learning with related concepts

  • Save time when planning sequences of work

Related topics are especially useful when you’re building out a unit or looking for extension or revision material.

Can’t find what you need? We’re in the process of making all content available in Discover. In the meantime, search from anywhere in EP, or browse all existing EP content in Library.

Library

The original EP Content Library has been moved to the Library tab. Use this area to browse our full content offering. Your own content and your school’s content are also still stored here, but you can now find them by searching from anywhere in EP.

Browsing the full Library

Click or double click through the available folders to see what’s available.

Shows filtered content by folder within the Library.

For each subject area, available content is split into different sections. You can find a detailed explanation of each section here, but when you’re browsing manually, here’s what you’ll find:

Featured Content and EP Content

This content is shared among all schools that use a specific curriculum. It’s built and maintained by EP.

You can’t edit this content directly, but you can create a copy of it if you’d like to customise what’s available.

My School’s Content

This section contains:

  • Any work that other teachers have made available to everyone at your school

  • Any custom content that our Content Team has made available to your school

It’s easy to rearrange content in this section, but remember that changes you make will affect everyone at your school!

Searching in Library

The Library page has its own search bar. If you’re looking for something specific in Library, here’s how to use it:

  1. Open the Library tab in your dashboard.

  2. Click the search bar in the top right.

Shows search bar within Library in top-right hand corner.

  3. Type your keyword and press Enter. Your search results are displayed.

  4. Filter your results by author and content type.

Shows filters for Author and Type within Library search.

The search will find any content that’s accessible to you, including EP Content, My School’s Content, and any work other teachers have shared publicly.

Teacher Community results are filtered out by default. To include these search results, use the Author drop-down.

What if my chosen subject doesn’t exist on EP?

Can’t find your chosen subject? Discover and Library show content for subjects your school currently has subscriptions for.

If you find that students are unable to access content you’ve created, your subscription may need to be adjusted.
