EP's Discover tool

Find and assign EP content in Discover, switch between list view and card view, explore supplementary content, and add topics to your Course Planner.

What is it?

Discover is where you find and assign EP content. Search or browse curriculum-aligned subjects and topics to find lessons and assessments to assign to your students.

Discover has two tabs: EP content, which brings together all EP content, including EP Create activities, and Supplementary content, which holds content curated by EP's Content team. You can also find EP content in the Library tab, alongside your own and your school's content. To learn more, see Finding content on EP.

How can I access it?

Click the Discover tab in EP's main navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen, then choose the EP content or Supplementary content tab.

The Search field at the top is designed to quickly find and access specific content, including activities, lessons, lists, and assessments. It supports searching by title or curriculum codes, making it even easier to align with your school's unique scope and sequence.

Switching between list view and card view

In the EP content tab, you can browse in two ways. Use the icons at the top right of the page to switch between them:

  • List view (list icon) shows content in a folder structure, similar to the Library.

  • Card view (grid icon) shows topics as cards, organised by strand.

Discover opens in list view by default. Your chosen view will be remembered, so the next time you log in, you’ll be taken straight to your preferred layout: list or card.

Filtering your view

Use the filters at the top of the EP content tab to narrow down what you're looking at:

  • Curriculum: Select the curriculum framework that applies to your class, such as Australian Curriculum v9.0.

  • Subject: Choose the subject area you want to browse, such as Mathematics or English.

  • Level: Filter content by the level you're teaching.

  • Syllabus: For some levels, choose a syllabus.

These filters work in both list view and card view.

List view

List view organises EP content in a folder structure, similar to the Library. It's a central place to find all EP content, including EP Create activities. It has three areas:

  • Folder tree (left): Expand the folders to find a topic.

  • Content list (middle): Shows the content in the selected topic, with a checkbox beside each item.

  • Details panel (right): Shows information about the topic or item you've selected.

Viewing content details

Click an item in the content list to open its panel on the right. The panel shows the item's title, content type, and duration, with the Assign and Preview buttons beneath. Use the tabs to see more:

  • Summary lists what's inside the item, such as slides and questions.

  • Details shows a description of the content, any tags, and when it was created and last edited.

Click a topic in the folder tree to see its description and tags, and to add the whole topic to a course.

Previewing content

To preview an item, select it and click Preview. To see it the way your students will, click the ⋮ (more options) menu, then select View as student. The menu also lets you select Add to course, or Details to open the item's Details tab.

Card view

Card view shows topics as cards that you can open to see the lessons and assessments inside.

Topic view and Assessment view

Use the Topic view dropdown next to the filters to switch between views:

  • Topic view shows the standard layout of topic cards organised by strand.

  • Assessment view shows all assessments across the pathway grouped by strand and topic, so you can assign them without navigating into individual topics.

From Assessment view, you can:

  • Assign an assessment directly using the Assign button on any assessment card, without navigating into individual topics first

  • Open the full topic by clicking the topic name to see all content in context

  • Switch back to your standard topic layout at any time by selecting Topic view from the same dropdown

Understanding topic cards

On each topic card, you'll see the total number of content types inside, marked by a few symbols:

  • Assessments are marked by the A+ symbol, with the graph symbol beside it indicating if Learning Snapshots are available for them

  • Lessons are marked by the lightbulb symbol

  • Translation lists are marked by the pinyin symbol

  • Spelling lists are marked by the ABC symbol

  • Fact lists are marked by the bullet point symbol

New and updated topics

We highlight our constant content development on topic cards with NEW and UPDATED badges, so you can always see the latest EP resources.

Topic overviews

In your subject and topic of choice, you'll see a list of lessons sequenced to progress students through units of work and achieve specific learning outcomes. From here, you can easily assign tasks to your students.

Curriculum tags (and curriculum outcomes, if available) are also displayed within topics, helping you identify relevant work.

If the topic you select has compatible Recommended Next Steps and/or Learning Snapshots, the Legends section of the page contains a helpful description of what to expect.

Supplementary content

The Supplementary content tab contains content curated by EP's Content team. It uses the same layout as list view, so you can browse folders on the left, select an item in the middle, and see its details on the right. You can assign and preview items from the details panel in the same way. You can't add Supplementary content to a course from this tab.

Supplementary content can only be filtered by subject. Unlike the EP content tab, it doesn't have curriculum, level, or syllabus filters.

Assigning work from Discover

Discover is one of the primary ways to search, select, and assign lessons or assessments to students in Education Perfect. This section covers how to select content, assign it, and track what has already been assigned using the Classwork indicators. You can multi-select and assign Learning activities of the same type.

From list view

  1. Use the filters and folder tree to find the content you want to assign.

  2. Click an item to open its panel, or tick the checkboxes next to several items.

  3. Click Assign in the item's panel. For a lesson, select Task or Quiz from the menu. Activities don't have this menu, so just click Assign. If you've selected several items, click Assign in the panel that shows how many items you've selected.
