Why won’t Dash work?

This article explains common reasons why Dash may not be working for students, including unsupported content, device compatibility, multiplayer issues, and firewall restrictions, along with steps to resolve each.

There are several reasons why Dash may not be working for students using EP. This article outlines what the most common ones are, how to fix them, and what to do if you’re still unable to access Dash.

Unsupported activity

Dash may be unavailable to you because the content you’re completing is unsupported for Dash. The game asks you 10 questions, so it’ll only work if the content you have selected has at least 10 Quiz (or Automatically Marked) questions available.

Your device might not be compatible

You’ll need to use a computer or tablet/iPad to access Dash, as it’s not available on mobile devices.

Multiplayer issues

Another common issue with Dash is being unable to establish a multiplayer connection.

Multiplayer mode allows you to play against other students in real time, but Dash might not be able to match you up with someone, in which case you can switch over to Time Trial mode.

Firewall

Many schools have internet security measures in place, and it’s possible that your school’s Firewall (internet security) is blocking Dash. In this case, your firewall settings may need to be updated.

To fix this, you should let your teacher know. They’ll be able to check in with the school’s IT Team to ensure that all of EP’s domains have been permitted.

Other options

If you continue to have trouble with accessing Dash, here’s what else you can try:

  • Make sure you have a strong internet connection.

  • Temporarily switch off any adblockers.

  • If not using it already, switch over to a Google Chrome browser.

  • Ensure the browser or App you are using to access Education Perfect is fully up to date.
