How do we register?

How do we register?

Participating schools need to register via the NZ Geography Olympiad organisation by 11:59 pm on Wednesday 16th July.

Information on how to register (including conditions of registration) can be found here. New Zealand Board of Geography Teachers website or register directly using this link.

For any questions about payment or registration conditions, please contact NZ Geography Olympiad directly igeonewzealand@gmail.com

For any questions regarding running the assessment, please feel welcome to contact Education Perfect support@educationperfect.com.

How do we access EP?

Students will complete the Olympiad entry exam on EP under exam conditions and monitored by a teacher.

Student and teachers use their school EP login for the competition (or be provided one if their school does not use EP) that will allow them to access the “NZiGEO” school platform for the Competition Assessments

Contact support@educationperfect.com if you or your students have trouble with your Username/Password. You will need to provide the students full name and that it is regarding the NZ Geography Olympiad Competition.

We strongly encourage schools to check login and access prior to running the exam. A sample Exam has been set to help students practice.

Key exam information

  • The assessment will appear in the Assessment tab for students by 8am Wednesday 23rd July.
  • The assessment runs for 30 minutes, and must be completed in class (in-person or remote) under exam conditions with active invigilation.
  • Teachers are required to monitor any in class students and the NZiGeo organisation will monitor the exam via EP remotely.
  • The exam can be run on different days/sessions.

Getting students into the exam

  1. Students will need to log in to their EP Account - using their current school email (that they registered to the Olympiad with)
  2. From here, they need to click on their account and “Switch Schools” to NZiGeo if needed, then select the exam on the front page.

Students will be forced into fullscreen mode and will not be able to leave the exam. They'll receive a warning that their teacher (NZiGeo) has been notified if they attempt to leave for any reason.

Full instructions for students accessing EP exams can be found here.

Monitoring the exam remotely

  • It’s strongly recommended that students use a laptop or desktop computer with Google Chrome to sit this exam, rather than tablets or iPads. Fullscreen Monitoring is not as effective for tablets and iPads.
  • The NZiGeo committee are moderating the exam remotely. The Monitor feed will notify them if any students are having connectivity issues or trying to leave the exam (i.e try to switch tabs/window or minimise the window) and will show if a student is sitting idle for too long.
  • If the exam is being run remotely, students should sit the exam while being monitored on a video conference tool with cameras (e.g. Zoom).
  • Otherwise, normal in-person exam conditions apply!
