Using Course Planner
The Course Planner helps teachers curate their units of work for each class on a term-by-term basis, and assign directly from the Course Planner. This streamlined, clear workflow supports teachers by offering a visible overview of assignments, helping them track and oversee assigned work more easily.

What is it?
The Course Planner allows teachers to curate topics from Discover and organise them into a sequence for each class. Teachers can plan their content term-by-term, ensuring they cover everything needed for their school's specific scope and sequence.
Once topics are added to the Course Planner, teachers can assign content either individually or collectively directly from the Courses area.
How can I access it?
In each Class view, you'll see the Course tab, which features four "swimlanes" to help teachers organise and assign content for the academic year.

What can I do with it?
Curate courses - Add Full Topics
Click Add Topic to browse and select topics to include in your Course Planner. Click into any topic to see what assessments and activities are included, then click Add to class to add it. Continue browsing and add as many as required - you can rearrange or remove them in the next step.

Curate courses - Add Partial Topics
You can also pick and choose the activities you'd like to add by creating Partial Topics. Make your selection using the checkboxes and click Add selected to a course. Your new partial topic will then appear in your Course Planner under the correct term.

Organise topics
Click and drag a topic to rearrange the order or move it to a different term. Click into a topic, then any activity, to preview it.

Assign single or multiple resources
Teachers can assign single or multiple lessons and assessments to students directly from the Course Planner. By assigning from Courses, teachers can better track which content has been assigned, helping educators stay on top of learning progressions and outcomes.

Tracking assignment progress
Once content has been assigned, each lesson or activity in the Course Planner will display its current status - such as Active, Past Due, or Completed, giving teachers a clear, at-a-glance view of where the class is up to across the term.

To quickly access a task report, hover over any status label. It will change to View, and clicking it takes you directly to the report for that activity - no need to navigate away from the Course Planner.

Sharing courses
To share curated course content with your classes or school, simply click the ‘Share’ button. Select the class you’d like to share with, then click ‘Share’ again to confirm.
This feature is especially helpful when multiple classes are working on the same material or when Heads of Department want all classes to follow a consistent scope and sequence.

💡Restoring from previous years: Courses can also be restored from a previous year. If you've already built out a Course Planner for a class, you won't need to start from scratch next year - simply restore it and make any minor tweaks to suit your new class. The work you put in now pays off for years to come.
