How to export data from D2L

As covered in our Enrolment Portal guide, the most efficient way to get your classes and students enrolled onto Education Perfect is by uploading a file that contains data from your export to our new Enrolment Portal. Check out our handy templates within the portal that can be utilised.

This article covers the process to export student information from D2L so that they can be enrolled on EP.

Export your data

  1. Start by logging in to D2L, and navigating to the course that you wish to export for enrolment.
  2. Next, click the Assessments > Grades tab.

This information can’t be exported from the Classes tab, only the Grades tab.

  1. Ensure you’re toggled to the Enter Grades tab. Here, click the Export button.

  2. You’ll be prompted to select your Export Options. On this page:
    • Key Field: Choose Both.
    • Sort By: Leave this option as Default.
    • Grade Values: Untick both options in this header, as this information is not required to enrol students on EP.
    • User Details: Tick all options.

    • Grades to Export: Untick all options.

  3. Next, click Export to Excel. Your file will be generated, which you can then download. Open the file to check that the information is correct.

  4. In the Excel file, add three additional columns:
    1. Class name: Enter a name for the class, including the Grade/Year level and subject (e.g. Grade 11 English).
    2. Teacher name: Enter the name of the teacher(s).
    3. Teacher email address: Enter the email address of the teacher(s) (if the teacher(s) already have EP accounts, you can skip this).

Use your exported files to populate one of our enrolment templates within the Enrolment Portal.

Once you populate one of our enrolment templates with your exported data and upload this to our new Enrolment Portal, you'll be able to instantly add classes, teachers and students to the platform. Check out Step 2 of the guide linked above for more information on the formatting requirements of our portal.
