Using Learning Snapshots [CA]
Learning Snapshots helps inform teachers on student performance in relation to the curriculum strands and specific expectations.
In this article:
Introduction
This report will reveal gaps in student knowledge, allowing teachers to pinpoint the most effective intervention opportunities. This deeper level of reporting allows schools to better plan out learning for students, and track if interventions have been successful.
Learning Snapshots will be available to teachers, school leaders/principals and district/group leaders.
The level of data they can view will be dependent on their role within EP.
- Class Snapshots: Teachers will be able to view assessment results by their class.
- School Snapshots: Principals and school leaders will be able to get a school wide view of students outcomes against the curriculum.
- District Snapshots: Groups/district leaders will be able to see assessment results by schools, and grade.
All data/results will be curriculum aligned to the strand, and specific expectation/outcome. The teachers class report rolls up to the school report, and district report, so all users have access to the same valuable data.
The data from Learning Snapshots are the results from EP pre-built assessments. To assess a student's understanding of a strand, topic, or expected outcome, the curriculum reporting uses data from questions, designed to test a specific skill.
Learning Snapshots for classroom
Learning Snapshots for the classroom will report on student performance against the curriculum.
Learning Snapshots will allow Teachers to identify gaps in student knowledge, allowing teachers to better plan learning for their class.
Gaps in knowledge will be highlighted at the following levels of the curriculum.
- Strand
- Overall expectation
- Specific expectation
For each specific expectation, we use the score from the relevant questions assessing this outcome. To calculate the strand, each outcome is weighted equally. We surface the most recent student results.
Teachers are able to filter student results by levels of achievement, which allows teachers to identify how their class is progressing, and what students need additional support.
Teachers can export the data as a CSV so they can use it with other tools.
Teachers will be able to drill down into student results for visibility of where the results have come from, and to view consistency of the student results.
Teachers can click through to the relevant assessment.
Learning Snapshots for Schools
Learning Snapshots for School Leaders will provide assessment results by grade. The assessment results will be displayed by strand, overall and specific expectation/outcome so school leaders can identify gaps in student knowledge, and plan based on the best opportunities for intervention.
The data in this level of the reporting is rolled up from the class level, this means teachers, school leaders and district leaders are all looking at the same data.
Gaps in knowledge will be highlighted at the following levels of the curriculum.
- Strand
- Overall expectation/Strand
- Specific expectation/Outcome
School leaders will be able to drill down to see student results by school. This will allow school leaders to give schools targets support.
Filters:
School leaders are able to filter data by Curriculum strand, subject, and grade, to see student growth, and track interventions. Subject and grade level filters are mandatory for data to be present in the report.
School leaders can get a view of students' results by levels of achievement. School leaders will be able to see how many students within a grade are sitting within the bucket.
Definitions of the levels are below.
- NE 0-49%
- Level 1 50-59%
- Level 2 60-69%
- Level 3 70-79%
- Level 4 80-100%
Students need to have submitted an assessment for their data to be included in the data.
Data restrictions:
If a grade has less than one class in a grade, then this data will not be available in school reporting. EP does not provide any data that allows teachers to be identified.
Only teachers with the school leader's permission can gain access to the school snapshots. Find out how to be elevated to a school leader here.
Learning Snapshots for district
Learning Snapshots for districts will provide assessment results by school, and grade. The assessment results will be displayed by strand so superintendents can identify gaps in student knowledge, and plan based on the best opportunities for intervention.
The data in this level of the reporting is rolled up from the class level, this means teachers and district leaders are all looking at the same data.
Gaps in knowledge will be highlighted at the following levels of the curriculum.
- Strand
- Overall expectation
- Specific expectation
District leaders will be able to drill down to see student results by school. This will allow superintendents to give schools targets support.
Filters:
District leaders are able to filter data by date, grade, subject, and school to see student growth, and track interventions. Subject and grade level filters are mandatory for data to be present in the report.
School filters will be persistent, so a district leader can focus on a selected set of schools.
District leaders can filter students' results by levels of achievement. Definitions of the levels are below.
- NE 0-50%
- Level 1 50-60%
- Level 2 60-70%
- Level 3 70-80%
- Level 4 80-100%
Students need to have submitted an assessment for their data to be included in the data.
Data restrictions:
If a school has less than one class in a grade, then this data will not be available in group reporting. EP does not provide any data that allows teachers to be identified.
