AI feedback tool for teachers
Please note that the AI feedback functionality is currently in its trial phase and we are actively trialing it with a few schools. If you want to participate in the trial, reach out to your EP account manager or contact us to book sometime with our team.
Before you begin
Here are a few important points to consider while using the AI feedback tool in TRIAL:
Scope of feedback: The AI feedback is available for a limited selection of extended response questions, specifically excluding multimedia (PDFs, images) or mathematics questions. Additionally, this feature is only available for questions in Tasks, and not in Assessments.
The system focuses on providing feedback on the most relevant and useful aspects of a student's answer to avoid overwhelming them with too much information.
- Feedback coverage: Not all parts of a student's response may receive feedback. The AI selectively provides insights where it can add the most value.
- Feature limitations: During this trial period, teachers cannot independently enable or disable the AI feedback feature, nor can they access reports of the feedback provided. These functionalities are planned for future updates.
- Usage recommendations: We recommend that teachers oversee students' use of this feature during school hours, especially when introducing it to the class for the first time. This approach allows for monitoring of student interactions with the AI system and ensures that any questions or concerns can be promptly addressed. Avoid introducing this functionality as part of homework assignments until students are familiar with its use.
The AI Feedback is not available on small screen devices such as mobile phones and certain tablets. The feature is also currently unavailable on the EP native iPad app. To access AI Feedback, please use a larger device (e.g., a laptop) and log in via the EP website: https://app.educationperfect.com/
Using the AI feedback tool
- Access your student account.
- Select a task and find an extended response question that supports AI feedback.
- Submit your answer:
- Enter your answer in the provided input box
Click Check Answer to submit
- Wait for the AI feedback to generate. This may take up to 30 seconds as the answer is processed by EP. The feedback is displayed on the right side screen under Personalised suggestions.
Once feedback is generated, students can hover over the underlined text in the answer to view specific annotations.
Use the Thumbs Up/Down to help us enhance your experience. If you find the feedback isn't relevant, click Thumbs Down and provide additional information to our team. Your input helps us improve.
- The student can then edit their answer and resubmit by clicking Improve My Answer - generating an updated AI feedback or proceed forward with the lesson by clicking Got it.
Teachers can export the student responses to AI feedback by navigating to the Tasks. For further steps, see Accessing AI feedback CSV Report.

Known or potential issues
While we have made every effort to eliminate errors and issues with this new feature, some problems may still occur. Additionally, AI-generated feedback is not perfect, and there is a small chance that some feedback may be confusing or irrelevant.
The table below outlines known or potential issues at the time of release, along with suggested workarounds or mitigations. We are actively working to address these issues. If you encounter any new issues, please report them using the contact details provided later in this document.

The feedback may be incorrect, either due to inaccurate star ratings (too low or too high) or nonsensical text. | Educate students that the AI is not perfect and can make mistakes. Emphasize that the feedback is not a reflection of their self-worth. Note that we expect feedback to improve over time as the system continues to learn. During the trial phase, students' answers are not being used to train the AI. |
Language limitation: The feedback system works best for English language answers. | We're working on adding support for other languages, but for the time being note that non-English answers may not produce useful feedback. Please inform your students that this is a known limitation to avoid frustration. |
Sometimes, feedback might not be generated, indicated by the right-hand side 'spinning' without producing actual feedback (after about 30 seconds). | Refresh the slide, or exit and re-enter, then try again. This usually resolves the issue. If the problem persists, please report it to us. |
Previous feedback may still be displayed even after a student submits a revised answer. | Ask the student to try again by resubmitting the answer, or exit the slide and submit the updated answer again. They may need to copy their new answer before doing so. |
