EP's AI Powered Feedback Tool - Getting Started (For Students)

How does the AI Feedback tool work from a Student's perspective?

Education Perfect's AI-Powered Feedback Tool gives you instant, personalised feedback on your answers to selected questions, helping you understand what you did well and where you can improve, in real time.

Before you begin

Here are a few important points to consider while using the AI feedback tool:

  1. Scope of feedback: AI feedback is available for selected extended response questions in Tasks (not Assessments). Some questions that include multimedia (PDFs, images, audio) may not support AI feedback.

  2. Focused feedback: The AI highlights the most useful parts of your answer to keep feedback clear — not every part of your response will get a comment.

  3. Device compatibility: AI Feedback works best on a laptop or desktop via EP's website. It doesn't work on small screens (phones, some tablets) or through the mobile app.

Using the AI feedback tool

  1. Access your student account.

  2. Select a task and find an extended response question that supports AI feedback- look for the AI symbol (purple sparkle) at the top of the lesson and next to the question.

  3. Enter your answer in the provided input box.

  4. Click Check Answer to submit.

  5. Wait for feedback to generate — this can take up to 30 seconds. Feedback appears on the right-hand side under Personalised suggestions.

  6. Hover over the underlined text in your answer to see specific annotations — a green underline shows what you did well, a red underline shows where you could improve.

  7. Use the Thumbs Up/Down buttons to tell us if the feedback was helpful. If it wasn't, let us know why — it helps us improve.

  8. Click Improve My Answer to revise and resubmit, or Got it to move on.

Teachers can export the student responses to AI feedback by navigating to the Tasks. For further steps, see Accessing AI feedback CSV Report.

Known or potential issues

While we have made every effort to eliminate errors and issues with this new feature, some problems may still occur. Additionally, AI-generated feedback is not perfect, and there is a small chance that some feedback may be confusing or irrelevant.

The table below outlines known or potential issues at the time of release, along with suggested workarounds or mitigations. We are actively working to address these issues. If you encounter any new issues, please report them using the contact details provided later in this document.

Potential issue

Workaround/ mitigation

The feedback may be incorrect, either due to inaccurate star ratings (too low or too high) or nonsensical text.

Educate students that the AI is not perfect and can make mistakes. Emphasize that the feedback is not a reflection of their self-worth. Note that we expect feedback to improve over time as the system continues to learn. During the trial phase, students’ answers are not being used to train the AI.

Language limitation

We now support French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin.

Sometimes, feedback might not be generated, indicated by the right-hand side ‘spinning’ without producing actual feedback (after about 30 seconds).

Refresh the slide, or exit and re-enter, then try again. This usually resolves the issue. If the problem persists, please report it to us.

EP representatives will be in regular touch to collect teacher feedback during the trial, but if you wish to reach out to us with an AI question, a technical issue or inaccuracy please send us an email to [email protected].
