EP Whakataetae Reo Māori for Professionals 2023
EP are thrilled to be hosting the Whakataetae Reo Māori for Professionals again in 2023!
Held during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, this is a free access competition open to all organisations and businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand.
What is this event?
Employees of participating businesses will compete against each other (and other businesses) by completing selected activities within our Te Ao Māori content.
The organisation that has accumulated the most points (on average) by the end of the competition will be our National Champion for 2023.
Note: To be eligible to be our National Champion, a minimum of 25 employees must be actively participating in the competition.
It is EP's second largest Māori Language competition (second to our for schools event) that celebrates Te Reo Māori and supports organisations throughout Aotearoa me Te Waipounamu with the normalisation of our national language.
When is this event?
Coinciding with Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week), this event is open from 9 am, Wednesday 13 September until 4 pm Friday 15 September.
Who can take part?
Any NZ businesses and their employees can take part free of charge, with no obligations.
If your organisation is already enrolled in our paid Te Ao Māori for Professionals course, the work you complete while participating in the Whakataetae will go towards your completion requirements.

How do we register?
If you are not currently purchasing our Te Ao Māori for Professionals course, one representative from your company will need to register your organisation using this this link. Once we have processed your registration, you will receive an email with further instructions on how your colleagues can set themselves up with an account.
All registrations must be complete by EOD Friday 8th September 2023.
Note: If you are a current subscriber to our Te Ao Māori for Professionals course, you will automatically be enrolled into this competition. If you would like to enrol additional employees within your organisation, keep an eye out for a dedicated email being sent to your Facilitator with instructions on how to do this.
How do we compete?
Competitors will log in to EP and earn points by completing any Te reo Māori content.
Existing users can compete by logging into their existing accounts, while new users will use an access code to create an account. Full instructions for new and existing users can be found here.

Are there any prizes?
Yes! The National Champion organisation will receive:
- Te Kukune (Carved whakairo held by the winners for 1 year) + a trophy for the organisation to keep.
- A framed A3 winner's certificate.
- A $3,000 contribution to a specific charity that your organisation supports.
- Spot prizes will also be awarded.
Competition rules
At EP, we take competition integrity very seriously. We recommend that all participants check out our full competition rules. Any users found to be earning points unfairly will be disqualified from the event.
