EP Whakataetae Reo Māori 2020 - Competition Information 2020

What is the EP Whakataetae Reo Māori?

The EP Whakataetae Reo Māori is a national, all schools, free access competition where students and kura compete against each other by earning points from completing activities within our Māori subject content. It is EP's principle and annual Māori Language competition that celebrates Te Reo Māori and supports schools nationwide in the normalisation and regular use of our national language. 

When is the whakataetae taking place? 

The competition will take place during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week 2020 from: 9am, Monday 14th September - 4pm, Wednesday 16th September.

I do not have access to EP Te Ao Māori. How do I create an account?

My students already have accounts - what do I need to do?

If your students have active EP accounts, they will automatically be enrolled for the competition - so you don't need to do anything to get them set up.

Can I enrol additional students?

Yes, you are welcome to enrol additional students free of charge. For more information on how to set up your classes, click here.

How do my students access the competition? 

  1. Log in to EP at epforlearning.com
  2. Click on the Competitions tab in the Student Zone, choose the Whakataetae Reo Māori competition and click on compete.

Can I participate alongside my students?

Yes, you're able to participate alongside your students. If you already have an account for our EP Te Ao Māori for Teachers course, you are more than welcome to use this account to join in the competition. If you don't have an account, email us at support@educationperfect.com requesting a student account for the competition, and we'll create you a free one.

Prize Pool for 2020:

Individual Prizes:

  1. Tāhei Pounamu (necklaces) for our top scorers (including Top Overall Student) within these four year groups + Free access to Te Ao Māori on EP for 2021: Year 3-6 , Year 7-8, Year 9-10 & Year 11-13  

   2. Top Overall Student: Receives a Tāhei Pounamu, 1 Year EP Full Suite Access + $100 gift card. 

School Prizes

  1. Winners’ Trophies (Top Kura Māori & Top Kura Auraki) engraved + $100 towards hākari (eg: pizza party).
  2. Overall Top School: $1000 grant for Māori resources.
