Getting Started with Education Perfect History (Australia)

Welcome to Education Perfect History (Australia). Whether you're new to Education Perfect History, or have been a part of the journey since the beginning, this quick guide will assist you to get started.

Introduction to Education Perfect History

The Education Perfect History content is a rich library of interactive, motivating and engaging lessons and assessments. Our unique curriculum is designed to facilitate independent learning and develop Historical knowledge, understanding and skills. The content is aligned to the Australian, New South Wales and Victorian Curricula. The information below will help you to have an overview of our content, unpack our variety of content for your individual context, and provide ideas on the different ways our platform features and content can be implemented in your classroom.

We have created an online, interactive resource that aligns with the Australian Curriculum, NSW Syllabus, and Victorian Curriculum. The History Content includes:

  •  A Historical Skills module with multiple skills folders based on the core skills, competencies and understanding of the methods used in History, including: Chronology, Historical Questions, Research, Analysing and Using Sources, Explanation and Communication, Perspectives and Interpretations.
  • Curriculum-aligned Year 07 The Ancient World, Year 08 The Ancient to Modern World, Year 09 Making of the Modern World and Year 10 The Modern World content.
  • Pre-built topic tests which can be used as summative or formative assessment. Use the pre-built topic tests, or make your own quick tests, to pre-test or post-test students. Two assessments, such as a pre-test and a post-test can then be compared to obtain data on individual and cohort growth.
  • To support literacy across the curriculum, we also have an extensive library of interactive spelling activities and glossaries.

These resources can be found by:

1. Using your username and password log into Education Perfect (if you don’t have an account you can register for one for free – teacher accounts are always free, go to Education Perfect and click register for free trial. We just need the teacher’s name and email).

2. Click on the content library.

3. Click on History as your subject from the left-hand side.

4. Preview and select one of the Year Level, Level or Module folders of content.

How the History Content is Structured

Each Smart Lesson is an interactive and engaging lesson which is scaffolded, based around a mastery model and supports Visible Learning strategies.

Our lessons begin with slides outlining learning outcomes and key terminology, then teach the initial content knowledge.

The lessons progress with automatically marked quiz sections. The quiz sections provide formative assessment and increase in difficulty as students progress through the lesson.

Lessons culminate with higher-order thinking, or skills-based, questions using Bloom’s Taxonomy.

The final element of Smart Lessons is a reminder of the learning outcomes, a summary of key terminology, knowledge and a bibliography.

Most topics within the History content have pre-built Topic Tests to provide powerful analytics on student learning for teachers.

There are also definition lists and spelling lists that put key terms in to context.

Assigning History Tasks to Students

This short video will guide you through how to set a task for students.

You can read through our help guides How do I assign a task?and How do I check task progress and completion?for more details on how to do this.

Assigning Pre-Built History Assessments to Students

History units contain pre-built topic tests. You can use these as summative or formative assessment tasks, as pre-tests, post-tests and end of topic tests. Assessments in EP can automatically recommend more tasks for students based on their performance in the assessment. Teacher could assign one as a pre-test and the students will receive recommendations of what they should complete as tasks.

You can read through our help guides How do I assign a pre-built assessment? And How do I view my students' assessment results? for more details on how to do this.
