Connecting and configuring a Wonde integration with Education Perfect

By connecting your Student Information System (SIS) to Education Perfect via Wonde, teachers can benefit from seamless, automated class and student enrolment.

This guide is for school administrators setting up the Wonde integration with Education Perfect.

In this article:

Before You Begin: Prerequisites

With the Wonde integration, data from your SIS becomes the source of truth for class and user information in EP.

Wonde supports many SIS across ANZ. Review the list of supported SIS to confirm yours is compatible.

Connecting to Education Perfect in Wonde

Create your school’s Wonde account

NB: If your school is already using Wonde for other applications you can log in here: https://edu.wonde.com/login. Once you’ve contacted our Support Team and they’ve sent you a connection request, you can skip to the Approving third party applications section below.

Contact us to start the Wonde integration set up; Wonde will then send an email invitation to create your school’s account.

This process must be followed by someone with the authority to approve access to school data.

Open the email and click ‘Create Account’:

Within your school’s Wonde portal, confirm your school name and your authority to approve access to school data stored in your SIS.

NB: If you do not have permission, you will be asked for the contact details of the person who does, and a new invitation will be emailed to them.

Fill in the remaining fields and click ‘Create account’ to activate your school’s Wonde account.

Approving third party applications

The Dashboard in your Wonde portal displays new applications pending approval.

Click on the EP application and then into Permissions.

Read and review the requested data permissions.

You can either approve or decline access. Approving sends a confirmation email to your school and EP, detailing the permissions, approver, and date/time. Declining access notifies EP.

If EP attempts to change permissions or access additional data later, your school must approve it again.

If you are unhappy with the requested permissions, contact us directly to discuss your concerns.

Integrating with your Student Management/Information System

NB: Skip this step if your school is already using Wonde for other applications and has integrated with your SIS.

After approving access it’s time to connect Wonde to your SIS (i.e. Sentral, Synergetic, KAMAR, TASS, iSAMS etc.)

Select which SIS your school uses to access the relevant installation guide.

Alternatively, you have the option to book a meeting with Wonde to complete the remaining steps together.

Access Controls

Use Wonde’s Access Controls to exclude specific users.

Log in to edu.wonde.com and select Education Perfect then Access Controls.

There are three available options to filter users:

Allow access to all users (default)

Allows all users associated with approved permissions to be shared with Education Perfect.

Include users by default (recommended)

Exclude specific users from being shared with Education Perfect. All other users will be included.

Exclude users by default

Include specific users to share with Education Perfect. All other users will be excluded.

Configuring your Wonde integration within Education Perfect

Configuring classes to sync (School Administrator only)

If you have existing classes in EP that you would like the Wonde integration to match and manage instead of creating new versions, please reach out to our Support Team.

Once your Wonde account is created and your SIS is connected, the Education Perfect Support Team will contact you to confirm the integration is ready. You will then be able to configure and select the classes to sync. Follow the instructions below to do so:

  1. Navigate to your school settings and click on Integrations.
  2. Click the Configure button on the Wonde integration card to start loading your available classes.
  • Once loaded, all available classes will be listed with their name, subject and year level. Clicking View opens a fly-out detailing the associated teachers and students. You’ll also be able to use the search box to locate any specific class or classes.

Year Level and Subject data associated to the classes within your Configuration space is being inferred based on the data available to us via Wonde. There may be times where this data has been inferred incorrectly or we haven’t been able to infer the data and should be reviewed prior to activating for sync.

  1. Use the subscribed subject filters to narrow down the classes for review. Include classes in your sync by toggling them individually or by using the Activate all for syncing toggle.

  • Classes without an active subscription appear in the Unsubscribed filter and cannot be synced. To include them, click Edit and change the subject and year level to match an active subscription.
  • The Incomplete filter lists classes that require attention because their subject or year level could not be inferred by our integration.

You can find the subject name via Wonde associated with each class under the class name on the class card. If this is empty in Wonde, this will show as N/A.

Use the Edit button to assign the correct details. Multiple classes can be selected and bulk edited using the checkboxes on the left.

Running a sync and viewing errors

When you have finished selecting all required classes, click Sync classes in the upper right corner.

You will be redirected to the main integration page as the provisioning process for your chosen classes begins. New classes and accounts will be created as needed for associated teachers and students. New users will be emailed a login invitation, while existing users will have the class added to their account.

The provisioning process can take several minutes, depending on how many new classes and accounts need to be created.

Once the sync finishes, the Wonde integration card will display a status update. Use the Enrolments link to navigate to the Enrolment History table and find the record for the recent sync.

If issues occurred during the sync, you will see an entry with the status Issues exist. Use the download button to access a file detailing each specific issue. View our Troubleshooting guide guide for information on how to resolve these.

Daily automated syncs

  • Our Wonde integration automatically syncs data daily from Wonde to EP between 8PM and 6AM NZDT.
  • As a School Administrator, you can find the exact timeframe that your schools integration will sync by accessing the Settings cog on the Wonde integration card.
  • If you want to pause the automated syncs for any reason, use the toggle within the same integration Settings area.
  • To ensure all previous day's SIS updates are captured, we recommend you set up your SIS to Wonde sync to run before 8PM NZDT.

Pausing and Disconnecting the Wonde integration

To prevent undesired class changes in EP at the end of the school year, or during major timetable updates, it is recommended that a School Administrator pause the automatic sync from Wonde to EP. This can be done via the Settings cog on the Wonde integration card.

If your school no longer desires to use a Wonde integration for automated class and user rostering, you can disconnect the integration at any time. You can do so via the Settings cog on the Wonde integration card.

Once disconnected, all Wonde managed classes will remain active and any additional updates to the class moving forward will need to be made manually. We advise only disconnecting the integration if you no longer wish to use this moving forward.
