Why have my students lost points?

Your students definitely shouldn't be losing points! There are a few reasons why this could appear to be the case, which we've outlined below.

The students are getting their Competition and Full-Year scores mixed up

Depending on whether students navigate to their work via a competition or by going through a particular subject/assignment, they'll either see their competition score or their full year score. This could be the source of confusion, so we recommend confirming this isn't the case.

Competition score

Full year score

They're confusing subject-specific scores with their full-year score

When students log in, they will see their full-year score in the top-right corner of the screen and a subject-specific score for each of their subjects.

A new school year has begun

At the start of the new school year, student accounts will start afresh with points. At the start of the school year, all full-year scores will be reset to 0. For Southern Hemisphere schools this will occur in January. For Northern Hemisphere schools this will occur at the beginning of August.

Points are being backlogged

During peak use (e.g. the Education Perfect World Series), things can start to slow down a little bit as our servers experience high volumes of traffic. In order to keep everything running smoothly, the points take slightly longer to update for users. When this happens, they are still being counted and stored, but the changes will take longer to display.

If neither of these are the case, please ask your students to send screenshots through to our team along with their browser and device information. Any other information they may have about their Education Perfect activity leading up to the points loss is useful too, for example what topic they were working on.
