January

New features/functions and improvements

  • Educators can now have their enrolment data processed automatically through the Enrolment Portal, provided that the data is in the correct and recognisable format.
  • Redesigned the Enrolment Portal to streamline the user interface and remove any unnecessary components.
  • Removed the fair play popup from learner created Lists (of all types) within a competition.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the competition scoreboard descriptions of certain lengths would be cut off.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Student App where:
    • The Translation List dialogue preview cut off the list header and the Continue button.
    • Learners couldn't send Cheers from the scoreboard when accessed via the navbar.
    • Learners could earn competition points from pronunciation questions within Smart Lessons.

February

New features/functions and improvements

  • When educators are creating a new class, licence options are now based on the class’ selected subjects. If there is only one relevant licence, it will be pre-selected.
  • When educators are creating a new class, the licence options are now named - previously it wasn’t clear what licence was being selected.
  • Inactive learner accounts can now log in and join a class using a Class Join Code.
  • YouTube videos now display an appropriate error message when a video is being blocked on the Student App.
  • Stopped the mic check popup reappearing when a learner is recording their voice in a Translation List.

Bug Fixes 

  • Fixed a bug where a learner could have more than 100% complete on a Task.
  • Fixed a bug where Long Answer question expectations tags weren’t showing up when an educator went to review responses within a Task.
  • Fixed a bug that stopped educators with an account in multiple schools from logging in.
  • Fixed a user interface bug on small screens while using Internet Explorer when logging in using a Class Join Code.
  • Fixed some discrepancies in the reported questions answered totals within the Student Usage area.
  • Fixed a bug where emails would display with an oversized logo in some email providers.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented the ability to make a copy of older Exam type content.
  • Several fixes have been made to the Content Browser user interface (Browse Mode).
  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Content Editor where:
    • Image components weren't loaded when opened for the first time.
    • Opening a question immediately gave a pop up that there were unsaved changes.
    • After saving a question there was a pop up saying there were unsaved changes.
    • The accent popup was prevented from working in text boxes.
  • Fixed missing capital characters input in the accent editor.
  • Added fixes to ensure question data is not overwritten accidentally within the Content Editor.

March

New features/functions and improvements

  • Student IDs have been added to the CSV export of the Student Overall Report in Tasks.
  • Using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl / CMD + S now works for saving your questions/slides in the Content Editor.
  • There is now a warning displayed to educators if a lesson includes Youtube videos so they can check whether they are blocked before setting Tasks.
  • The text-to-speech screen reader now reads out all the text in Highlight questions.
  • New learner accounts that are added by using a Class Join Code will now only be created after the learner has verified their email address.
  • When creating new EP for School learner accounts, schools that have been set to require a student ID or email will now enforce this in the add student dialogue.
  • For privacy reasons, EP for Home accounts will now have Scoreboards and Cheers disabled.
  • In the Content Editor, Long Answer components now disable the gibberish check if the input language is not set to English.
  • Dragging Image components around in the Content Editor has been optimised to be more reliable and predictable.
  • Learners using the Student App are now prompted to complete lessons set as Tasks & Assessments when accessing new lessons/lists within the Content Browser.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed two bugs in Classes where:
    • Educators were unable to filter classes by academic year.
    • Existing but inactive learners weren't displayed as an option when trying to add them to a class. 
  • Fixed a bug that allowed users to create accounts with join codes when they already had an existing account.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Content Editor where:
    • YouTube blocked warnings were being shown even if YouTube was not blocked for a school.
    • Certain types of text formatting would break keyword matching in Long Answer components.
    • Pressing cancel on adding a new component did not remove the space on the slide it was going to take up if it had been added.
    • Marking Schedule Item with ID x used more than once error sometimes appeared when saving Exam type content.
  • Fixed the border on circular Australian state icons on the Global Scoreboard.
  • Fixed a bug that didn't show all competitions within the Student Learning Record when filtering to just competitions.
  • Fixed a bug causing points not to display correctly for EP for Home learners.
  • Fixed a data discrepancy bug in Insights; learner time spent online stats are now correct.
  • Fixed a bug where the split into 15-word pages option was missing on long Translation/Fact list type content.
  • Fixed a bug in Tasks/Assessments that was preventing the count of set work for each class from updating when an item was created or deleted.
  • Fixed two bugs in Assessments where:
    • Remedial Tasks were not correctly associated with a class, if the class was added to the relevant Assessment after it had already started.
    • Some automatically marked Assessments could not be marked manually if required.
  • Fixed a bug that stopped educators from being able to edit set Tasks.
  • Fixed a bug where there was lagging/crashing when navigating to any List type content on iOS/Apple devices.
  • Fixed a bug on iOS/Apple devices that caused crashes when viewing lesson slides that contained videos.
  • Fixed two bugs in the Student App where:
    • The progress was not properly calculated for Fact Lists.
    • The Text-To-Speech feature stopped working after changing questions.
  • Fixed a bug on the Student Mobile App where the return key would not work after using the I don't know button on a question.

April

New features/functions and improvements

  • The correct timezone will now be used in the Students were notified about a new task email educators receive after assigning a new Task.
  • Improved readability for overflowing question elements on mobile devices.
  • When an assessment attempt is unlocked for a learner, the learner is now able to resume that attempt even if the assessment context is still locked

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug causing Assessment marking to break for Long Answer questions that contained Asian language scripts.
  • Fixed a bug with accents in a Text Box/Fill In The Gaps questions that were not being marked correctly when using the accents input.
  • Fixed the formatting of times and dates in certain automated system emails. 
  • Fixed a bug where educators were unable to submit feedback on EP created questions/slides.
  • Fixed several bugs occurring in the Content Editor when using Firefox.
  • Fixed a bug that caused slides with tables to be cut off while viewing on mobile phones.
  • Fixed a bug in Competitions where competition award point values could not be modified when creating a new competition.
  • Fixed a bug where the Content Library was taking a long time to load for some users. 
  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Content Editor where:
    • Exam type content failed to save after importing questions from other Exam type content.
    • Educators were stopped from changing the number of marks that can be allocated for a section of questions.
    • PDFs would disappear from slides.
    • Copying slides with Image or Audio components would lose their format.
    • Marking rules (manual vs auto) were not updating when changing question types.

May

New features/functions and improvements

  • Released the EP Studio beta - an in-progress replacement for the current Content Editor. In order to prepare for a full transition to Studio in the coming months, the current Content Editor has been renamed to Legacy Editor.
  • Educators now have visibility options while uploading something to the Media Gallery in both Studio and the Legacy Editor; they can choose to have it private, or in their account’s shared library.
  • EP now stores a complete copy of Exam type content so that in some cases where an Exam fails to save within Studio, it can be easily retrieved.
  • Increased the number of saved colours a user can have from 20 to 40 within Studio.
  • Removed option to allow Assessments to accept late submissions.
  • Students are no longer able to earn points from learner-made content (self made or made by another learner) both in general use and in competitions.
  • Optimised the speed of Task Completion Report for multiple classes/Tasks. 
  • Removed an unintentional drop shadow from the Monitor function in Assessments.
  • The Live Feed in Assessments now shows events older than just yesterday with full time and dates, and dates now have title tooltips with full time and date details.
  • The Sound Recorder and Uploader components can now be reduced down to 4 columns instead of a minimum of 5 within Studio.
  • Updated and enforced all supported file types in Studio.
  • Improved the Long Answer component expectation defaults in Studio.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in the Media Gallery within Studio where questions that had an image categorised as English & Literature would break while editing.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in Studio where:
    • The stand-alone Media Gallery display would break in certain situations.
    • Sometimes Exam type content wouldn't save in because of a rule id used more than once error.
    • New edits made to content were not saving correctly.
    • You could not save questions with a Working Formula component in it when you had just copied the question.
    • 't' could not be used as a variable in Working Formula components.
    • You could have Image components outside the bounds of its block.
    • Users were unable to save Translation List type content.
    • When editing existing Fill In The Gaps components, occasionally the distractor answers were being lost. 
    • Scratchpad components would show the model answer Example drawing even when there is none.
  • Fixed two bugs in Assessments where:
    • Set Assessments would go missing when they were reopened.
    • Locking/unlocking would make the assessment card disappear from the Assessments homepage.
  • Fixed a bug where printing a PDF of a Smart Lesson containing Long Answer questions would not include the Long Answer questions.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in Tasks where:
    • Questions/slides would not fit when reviewing learner answers on a smaller screen.
    • When reviewing learner responses, navigating between questions would show feedback for a different question.
    • The Send Message button in the Live Feed was not displaying learner names.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when a learner self-reviewed a Long Answer question in a set task and would then be shown the New feedback speech bubble for their own review.
  • Fixed a bug where the undo/redo buttons were not updating immediately after a change was made when a learner was answering a Scratchpad question.
  • Fixed a bug where the in-app payments dialogue would not reappear after logging out and back in.
  • Fixed a bug for Single Sign On users where opening an activity in a new tab would ask them to log in again.

June

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Added improved validation around the maximum length of items when creating a new List by importing from a spreadsheet.
  • Removed the ability to create new content in the Legacy Editor. New questions must now be made in Studio.
  • Existing content can now only be edited in Studio.
  • In Studio, added new horizontal drag handles when hovering over a component to make resizing easier.
  • In Studio, the components sidebar will now have descriptive tool-tips for each component.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in Tasks where educators could not save Peer Review feedback when it contained 'like' or 'and' in single quotes.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in Studio where:
    • List and Smart Lesson type content that included 'like' or 'and' in the title failed to save.
    • If an item is removed from List type content, the amount of questions/stars didn’t update correctly.
    • Exam type content was prevented from being saved.
  • Fixed a bug in the Content Library where the Preview in Student Zone button was not displaying correctly.
  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where adding selected questions from a Smart Lesson wouldn't add the correct selection of questions to a Quick Test.
  • Fixed a bug in Competitions where the message all button educators have access to was not working as expected.

July

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Added dialogues to user dashboards on Internet Explorer to notify users that we will be blocking access to our platform on Internet Explorer from August 31st 2020 and that they will need an alternate browser.
  • Optimised loading speed of the Task Completion Report.
  • Educators are now required to change their password when they log in using their first name.
  • Users will no longer receive an email when they change their password from the default.
  • Added a blocker that prevents the Grammarly browser extension from offering suggestions in Long Answer Questions in Assessments.
  • Added Time Taken column to the CSV export of the Students Overall Report in Tasks.
  • All fields are now exported for the Subject Breakdown when exporting as a CSV from the Class Report.
  • Data exports of Student Engagement (on Student Usage Report) now include the minutes spent when the time spent was under an hour.
  • Redesigned the Content Library to better streamline the navigation and creation workflows:
    • Removed the Home landing page.
    • Removed tile view from Edit Mode.
    • Removed actions toolbar.
    • Updated copy of various edit/copy/delete dialogues.
    • Moved subject selection drop-down.
    • Renamed Private Workspace to My Content.
    • Added a new Create New toolbar for users to quickly create new folders/content.

Bug Fixes 

  • Fixed a bug where PDFs were failing to generate for Single Sign On schools.
  • Fixed a bug in Student Usage where the graphs in the Full School and Class reports were appearing blank when printed.
  • Fixed a bug with Lists where the dialogue that appears when a learner has earned all possible stars was not showing any text.
  • Fixed a bug where learners were able to gain points in some self-marked questions.
  • Fixed a bug with Fill In The Gaps questions where the correct answer was always the right hand option when there are only two possible answer options.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in Tasks where:
    • The count any new work done as late checkbox was unavailable when re-opening Tasks.
    • Learners were shown as having started a Task when educators viewed progress, when they hadn’t yet.
    • The Live Feed in a task that had been reopened wasn’t recording any new activity.
  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where marking tags would stay on-screen when changing to other questions when marking.
  • Fixed a bug in Competitions where the content icons weren’t displaying correctly.
  • Fixed two bugs in Studio where:
    • The Legacy Editor would open briefly before opening Studio after previewing a newly created question.
    • Translation Lists were not updating their translations correctly.

August

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Users will now be blocked from accessing EP if they are using Internet Explorer and will be redirected to a page explaining that the browser is no longer supported.
  • Changed the failed login notification for users with deactivated accounts so it’s clear why they are unable to log in.
  • Made the following subject areas available in the Content Library:
    • Civics & Citizenship
    • Slovene
    • Irish 
    • Azerbaijani
    • Cook Islands Maori 
  • When adding a new activity to the Content Library, it will now appear correctly in alphabetical order without requiring a refresh.
  • When a module is hidden in the Content Library, we now also show that all the lessons within are also hidden.
  • The uploader in the Media Gallery now checks if your file is too large before trying to upload the file.
  • When making a copy of an active Task/Assessment, the start and end dates will also be copied.
  • When making a copy of an inactive Task/Assessment, the duration is now also copied.
  • The toolbar at the bottom of Responses in a Task no longer interferes with clicking on elements in the question. 

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the Next Question button on the last question in an Extended Response section was not behaving correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where the Text-To-Speech reader was not reading the question text after it had been answered.
  • Fixed a bug in Teacher Certification where the Level Up! message was not being shown when a new level had been achieved.
  • Fixed a bug in Student Usage where there were discrepancies with time spent online data.
  • Fixed a bug in Tasks and Assessments where the tables were sometimes not showing up in the individual Student Usage report.
  • Fixed multiple bugs in the Content Library where:
    • Searches that return no results would crash the page.
    • Doing a search in Browse Mode then switching to Edit Mode would lose the search results.
    • While using Safari, the Exam preview would appear broken.
    • The Preview button wasn’t working as expected.
    • Spelling Lists weren’t always previewing correctly.

September

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Added the ability to enable spell checking for Assessments.
  • When creating a new Smart Lesson in Studio, the Start building your Smart Lesson page has been removed. Information, Quiz, and Extended Response sections will be added automatically and can be edited accordingly. Skill/Translation sections can be added via the add section button.
  • Optimised performance for slides that contain one or more Long Answer questions.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in Assessments on iPad where Working Formula questions would disappear after switching between questions.
  • Fixed a bug in Tasks where sound files that were only meant to be played a limited amount of times would reset their play count every time a learner changed questions. 
  • Fixed two bugs in the Student App where:
    • The Text-To-Speech reader was reading different text than what was written. 
    • Certain Working Formula chemistry equations were not marked correctly.

October

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Studio components can now be clicked and dragged around the slide canvas.
  • In Studio, alerts have been added to warn users when they are near or at the limit of components in their slide (15 components max). 
  • In Studio, Working Formula components now have a Chemical equation option. 
  • In Studio when copying variables between Working Formula components, they now completely copy. Previously variables would remain linked, and this caused issues where updating another variable would also update another.
  • The default date range for a Task Completion Report is now one week.
  • Assessments can now be unlocked for individual learners.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed multiple bugs in Studio where:
    • The Sound Recorder component was not able to be saved.
    • Issues occurred when saving newly created questions.
    • Creating range based variables and deleting the ranges in Working Formula components would cause the slide to break.
    • Using _ as a synonym in Long Answer components would crash the browser.

November

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Made the following subject areas available in the Content Library:
    • Islamic Studies
    • Moral Education
    • Psychology
    • Myanmar Language
    • Mongolian
  • When viewing the Global Scoreboard on the Student Mobile App, learners will now remain logged in and will not be required to enter their login details again.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in Tasks where clicking on a learner's response would open a different learner’s response instead.
  • Fixed a bug where some learners were not able to access the Content Library or the Usage Report.

December

New features/functions and Improvements

  • Introduced Instant Access to make the new educator account signup process more effective and efficient.
  • Retired the Legacy Editor and have completely replaced it with EP Studio (no longer in beta).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug in Assessments where re-opened assessment attempts that contain both auto-marked and manually-marked questions wouldn’t be auto-marked correctly on the second submission.
  • Fixed a bug in Competitions where when creating/editing competition content, if duplicates of the same lesson (placed in different modules) were selected it then became impossible to save the competition. 
  • Fixed a bug in Studio, where saved slides in a Smart Lesson would sometimes disappear.
